VMware expands at Stanford Research Park
VMware Inc. is expanding its presence at Stanford Research Park with two leases totaling 150,000 square feet.
The Palo Alto-based virtualization software company (NYSE:VMW) currently occupies and owns a 462,000-square-foot headquarters it bought from EMC Corp. (NYSE:EMC) in 2007 for $132.6 million.
VMware signed a lease for a 65,000-square-foot warehouse owned by Roche Palo Alto LLC, one of Roche’s 15 buildings at Stanford Research Park. Ron Himes, Mike Courson and Mike Connor with Cassidy Turley BT Commercial Palo Alto represented VMware in the transaction. Financial terms were not released.
Himes, the lead broker, declined to comment on the deal.
In the second deal, VMware subleased an 85,000-square-foot building from SAP AG. The research-and-development building is located at 3421 Hillview Ave. in the park.
The Cassidy Turly BT team represented VMware in the second lease along with Eric Fox of Cassidy Turley CPS Santa Clara. The team of Himes, Courson and Connor represented VMware, while Fox and Ken Candelaria, also of Cassidy Turley, represented SAP in the transaction.
